Woman arrested for hiding ‘weed’ and tramadol in stew for jailed boyfriend at Kumasi Prison

The Kumasi Central Prisons have arrested a 33-year-old woman for attempting to smuggle weed and tramadol in a meat stew for her jailed boyfriend who is serving term at the prison.

The suspect, Gifty Addo, was busted by a vigilant female prisons officer at the main entrance of the prison as she was undergoing checks before entry.

Police search in a transparent rubber bucket containing tomatoes stew and animal intestines uncovered 13 mini parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis and 10 blister packs of Tramadol 225mg.

Suspect, Gifty Addo

The boyfriend of the suspect,Yaw Odum, who is serving a 3-year jail term for abduction, has allegedly been selling narcotic drugs to inmates of the prison for sometime now.

DSP Jeremiah Alale confirmed the arrest in an interview with Kumasi based radio station, Ultimate FM. He said the matter would be investigated further and sanctions would be duly applied.
