Thief Who Disguises Himself As Preacher Arrested At Awoshie For Skillfully Scamming Momo Vendor

A thief who has disguised himself as a preacher has been arrested at Awoshie over momo fraud.

A momo fraudster who disguised himself as a preacher has been arrested for scamming a momo vendor at Awoshie in Accra.

According to the mobile money vendor, the man approached her and started ministering the word of God to her.

When he managed to get her attention, he wiped her hands with a handkerchief and asked her of her phone so he can give her his number for future spiritual direction.

The momo vendor gave him her phone and their chat continued while he typed his number on the phone.

Apparently when he was typing his number on the phone, he rather transferred 1,100 cedis from it.

Having scammed the momo vendor without her noticing, he moved to another lady in the same place and told her he’s seen that she is pregnant but some spiritual forces are working against her.

The lady denied being pregnant but this didn’t stop her from giving her spiritual direction that she should wake up at dawn to pray.

As he was lurking around the momo vendor released the balance in her account has reduced.

She reached out to MTN and they gave her the details of her last transaction and boom, it was a 1,100 cedis transfer to the number of the supposed preacher.

She raised the alarm and he got rounded but still he was feigning innocence.

The momo vendor called her boss and he also moved to the scene.

 

 

They checked his phone and they discovered that he had already transfer 400 cedis of the money he stole to other numbers.

As to how he managed to scam the momo vendor without herself giving out her merchant pin, no one knows.
