Sista Afia protests not getting even one nomination for the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

Upon receiving not even one nomination for the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, singer-songwriter Sista Afia of Ghana has expressed her extreme dissatisfaction and annoyance.

She vented on social media, wondering if she had offended anyone at the esteemed awards ceremony’s high table.

Despite the song’s success in 2021, the artist—who is well-known for singles like “Asuoden” and “Maradona” with DopeNation—expressed confusion about its exclusion from the nominee list.

She bemoaned what she saw as the unfairness of the nomination process, drawing attention to reports that certain artists are eligible for consideration even without submitting a nomination.

Sista Afia shared in her post the hurt of being disregarded in spite of her unwavering work ethic and commitment to her trade.

The “Weather” hitmaker acknowledged that she was afraid to upset anyone for a long time, but eventually the disappointment of not being acknowledged for her efforts became intolerable.

At a ceremony conducted at the Accra International Conference Centre on Thursday, March 28, 2024, the nominees for the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards were revealed. To Sista Afia’s dismay, though, her name was noticeably missing from the list. She felt as though the industry, to which she has devoted her life, undervalued and ignored her.
