Ghana Coach Drops Asamoah, Afful, Dwamena while Acheampong pulled out of Starting XI Against Kenya

Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah, has dropped returnee Kwadwo Asamoah and Levante forward Raphael Dwamena from his starting line-up for Saturday’s 2019 AFCON qualifier against Kenya in Nairobi.

The coach also excluded right-back Harrison Afful from his team in favour of England-based Andy Yiadom for the match at the Kasarani Stadium. Coach Appiah also pulled a surprise when he named Majeed Waris ahead of in-form Levante attacker Dwamena.

The Black Stars trainer who has observed both players clearly thinks the Nantes goal poacher deserves to start ahead of Dwamena.

The decision looks to have come from the fact that he is deploying just one attacker in anticipation of a big fight in midfield for the ball. Kwadwo Asamoah’s absence has also raised eyebrows but it is clear the coach wants to give the Inter Milan player the chance to observe things from the bench before giving him the chance to play for the country for the first time in four years.
