Alvin Leonard Bragg Jr. is a Democratic politician and lawyer from the state of New York. Bragg was elected as the next New York County District Attorney on November 2, 2021, becoming the first African-American and the first person of color to hold the position. Bragg formerly worked as New York’s top deputy attorney general and as an assistant US Attorney in the Southern District of New York.

He graduated from Trinity School before attending Harvard College. He graduated from Harvard cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in government in 1995  and earned his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review

Alvin Bragg is married to Jamila, a lovely and thoughtful woman. He expressed his gratitude and asked his wife for help. He expressed his affection with a picture labeled somewhere in the celebration hall while seated around the table. Her full name is Jamila Marie Ponton. The couple married in 2003 and had two teenagers.
