You can cancel the referendum but you can’t cancel your 2020 defeat – Sammy Gyamfi to Akufo-Addo
The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo yesternight announced the cancellation of the 2019 referendum.
The referendum which was slated for December 17, 2019 was to afford Ghanaian the chance to vote YES for Political Party involvement in district assembly politics or NO for otherwise.
Sensing that the YES option wouldn’t get the required 70% vote to win the referendum following a NO campaign championed by the main opposition party, the government have canceled the referendum.

The Communication Director of the opposition party, Sammy Gyamfi has reacted to the cancellation of the referendum.
The firebrand NDC man said the President cancelled the referendum because he feared getting defeated but he cannot cancel his impending defeat come 2020 general election.
“Mr. President, you can cancel the December 17 referendum for fear of defeat, but you cannot cancel the impending defeat that awaits you on December 7th 2020” – He said
