Video: Ofosu Ampofo Rearrested: Suspects Confirmed Him behind Market fires & recent Kidnappings?
The name of the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has popped up in connection with recent kidnappings and arson in some prominent areas in the country.

A letter from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service inviting Mr Ofosu Ampofo in connection with the two issues read in part “The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into cases of kidnapping and fire outbreaks in various parts of the country. Intelligence gathered indicates that sonic of these kidnappings and fire outbreaks are being orchestrated by various unidentified groups, persons and individuals. Some of the persons picked up for interrogation and investigation have mentioned your name as part of a grand scheme designed to cause fear and panic in the country.

As a result of the above information and intelligence you are kindly requested to report to the undersigned on Thursday 9th May 2019 at 2pm to assist in our investigations. You may contact Chief Superintendent of Police Mr Baffour Apenteng Nyamekye on telephone number 0242814863 if you require further information or clarification. We look forward to your co-operation in this matter of national interest”.
But National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi has vowed that the party will prevent its National Chairman from honouring the invitation.

On Accra-based Asempa Fm, he described the letter and the allegations as nonsensical, useless and concocted and served notice that under no circumstances would the members of the party allow Ofosu-Ampofo to honor the invitation.
