Ghana Black Stars kicked off the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a hard fought win against Madagascar.

Ghana Black Stars started the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a hard fought win over Madagascar.

At the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, the team needed a 96th minute goal from striker Inaki Williams to bag all 3 points.

The first half ended goalless and there was fears the game would end without a goal from the home side.

After going all out for a goal, Inaki Williams connected a cross from Gideon Mensah with his head to give Ghana the all important 3 points.

 

 

Ghana Black Stars will play away to Comoros on Tuesday, a side who won their opening game 4-2 against Central Africa Republic.

After the game, Ashimeru has been receiving props on social media for how he changed the game when he was introduced in the 2nd half.

Former captain of the team, Asamoah Gyan who has always been advocating for the midfielder to be an integral part of the team has taken to twitter for his ‘stone’.
