UN Mourns With Anita Erskine As She Loses Dad, 1992 Presidential Candidate, General Erskine

The United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon has paid their last respect to Ghanaian veteran, General Emmanuel Erskine.

The 1st Commander of the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon passed on to glory on Friday, May 7, 2021.

General Emmanuel Erskine died at the age of 86 after years of helping to maintain world peace especially in Lebanon.

The United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon posted his photos and added the following words to honor his glory;

Our deepest condolences to family & Govt of Ghana🇬🇭 for the passing of LtGen Erskine (86), who served as @UNIFIL_’s 1st Force Commander 1978-81 during ongoing conflict to restore int. peace & security & assist Lebanese Govt. He laid foundations for the mission’s future successes.”


In the year 1992, he played a role in Ghana returning to Democracy with the formation of his political party, People’s Heritage Party.

After the 1992 election his party merged with other parties to form People’s Convention Party which later merged with others to form Convention People’s Party (CPP).
