June Wanza Mulupi, a Kenyan woman who went for a breast enlargement surgery died when trainee doctor accidentally slit her intestines.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB) released a report to clarify issues surrounding the accidental killing.
The report suggests the deceased was not properly handled and was operated on by a trainee doctor who was not authorized to carry out any medical procedures without supervision.
The incident happened at Surgeoderm Healthcare Clinic Limited where three Doctors, surgeon Prof Stanley Ominde Khainga, an anaesthetist Dr Evans Charana, and Dr Martin Ajujo agreed to help the 35 year old mother of 3 enlarge her breast.
The trainee doctor, Dr Martin Ajujo decided to carry on the surgery all by his own when his boss was running late.
By the time his supervisor arrived, he was 25% through with the operation
The husband of the deceased went to the clinic to pick up his wife and she complained to her she was in serious pain.
The situation got worse in the evening and was rushed to Nairobi Hospital but she died few hours later.
The autopsy shows that her intestines were accidentally slit, causing waste to flow, and subsequently caused blood infection that killed her.
