Former Military ruler of Ghana Jerry John Rawlings has passed on at the age of 73.
The demise of the longest serving head of state has been received with mixed reactions on social media.
While some see him a hero, others see him a villain for the human right abuses during his reign.
Below is how Ghanaian social media users reacted to the death of the former President;
@nana_agyepong_ “Rest in distress, Rawlings. The evil you have done is enough.”
@Mr_Ceyram “Rawlings en strict policies laid the foundations of our democracy. I wont tolerate anybody disrespecting him. 🙏🏾”
“How can you people be so disrespectful about the death of a former president who for 19 years enforced a reign of terror on his civilians? How? A leader who ordered the abduction and brutal murders, by firing squad, of 3 judges and burnt their bodies? You’re better than that guys”
“What’s today’s lesson? If you want people to say nice things about you when you die, be a good person. If that man was a good man, why would he put an indemnity clause in our constitution to stop people from coming for him? Go and sit down and think with your rest in peace.”
@Obaa_boni “Yea the whipping posts his soldiers set up randomly and arbitrarily was Def about class equity”
The ppl he kidnapped, the women he disappeared, the judges he murdered, and the wealth he personally accumulated.”
