Sydnie Quimby was announced dead after a skiing accident at Gunstock Mountain
Tuesday morning, Gilford High School Principal Anthony Sperazzo delivered a message to the student body informing them that the victim, Sydnie Quimby, was a freshman.
Quimby, according to authorities, was 15 years old.
For our community, “this is a tragic loss,” Sperazzo remarked. To help our children, staff, and families, we are working hard.
Stephen Carrier, the fire chief for Gilford, said the incident happened on Monday afternoon. Racing to the scene were an ambulance and an engine.
And when they arrived, the ski patrol had a patient who was suffering from major wounds, including a head injury, according to Carrier. The patient was brought to Laconia Hospital before being moved to Dartmouth.
Quimby reportedly got the injuries when skiing down the Derringer Trail, according to witnesses, according to Tom Day, president and general manager of Gunstock Mountain Resort.
