Shalada Nelson Died In Uvalda Fatal Crash – Suffered ‘Medical Emergency’

One woman is dead in Toombs County after she was found behind the wheel of a vehicle that struck a tree.

But that crash may not have been what killed her.

According to the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office, 911 dispatch received a call Monday around 3:15 p.m. of a vehicle that struck a tree near Cedar Crossing Vidalia Road and JP Milligan Road.

When deputies arrived, they found the driver, 40-year-old Shalada Lore Nelson, of Lyons, deceased.

Deputies later learned that Nelson called someone before the crash, complaining of severe chest pains and said she was attempting to drive herself to the hospital.

“At this time, it is a possibility that Nelson may have had a medical issue that caused her death that caused the wreck,” the sheriff’s office posted on Facebook.

Georgia State Patrol is investigating.
