Pedestrian Barry Corbins struck and killed in Jefferson Davis Parish crash

Authorities reacted to a fatal pedestrian accident early this morning.

Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a collision on U.S. Highway 165 at the intersection of LA Highway 101 in Jefferson Davis Parish shortly after 3:30 a.m. Barry Lee Corbins, 64, of Lake Charles, was the pedestrian.

According to the inquiry, the Toyota Camry’s driver was nearing the intersection of LA 101 while driving south on U.S. 165. Corbins was hit by the car at the same time that he was hit while walking in the outside lane of traffic.

Corbins was found to have lethal wounds and was declared dead there. Both the driver and the passenger in the Toyota were safely buckled up and unharmed. The motorist is not suspected of being impaired.

The driver and Corbins provided toxicology samples, which will be used for examination. This collision is still being looked into.
