Missing James Stokes found dead in impounded vehicle, Milwaukee family outraged
On Monday at the city’s tow yard, cops discovered their missing loved one dead inside a smashed vehicle.
On June 1, near North 91st Street and West Fond Du Lac Avenue, a stolen automobile that had 17-year-old James Stokes Jr. wrecked.

A fast Kia SUV was seen on surveillance camera losing control and colliding with a nearby tree.
An wounded 16-year-old child inside the automobile needed to be treated, so police called the Milwaukee Fire Department. He was then taken into custody, but it appears they were unaware that there was another passenger in the vehicle.
The police force does have a set procedure for dealing with towed vehicles.
According to the standard operating procedure, “towed vehicles shall be thoroughly searched for the safety of members.”
The statement continues, “This search shall include the passenger compartment, glove box, and trunk of any vehicle accessible by key.”
All official footage and photos taken during the inquiry are the subject of an open records request from 12 News.
