Ministry of Education cancel BECE, WASSCE in newly released Educational Reforms [Details]
The Ministry of Education has outlined reforms to transforma education in Ghana.
The reforms will see them cancel the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) written by final year Junior High School students for access to the Senior High School.
The BECE will be replaced with a placement examination to enroll students into SHS 1.
At the Senior High School, students will run only core subjects/programme for the first year.
From SHS 2, students will then choose their career paths between vocational education, technical training, business, arts, and science where they will be awarded diploma on completion.
WASSCE will also replaced with University entrance exams at SHS 3.
