Markell Jackson Obituary; 18-year-old shot, killed by Demontoriyuana Charles

In connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Markell Jackson, an arrest has been made.

Demontoriyuana E. Charles, 18, who was wanted in connection with the shooting, was detained, according to a Friday morning release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Kayla Vincent, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office, reported that Charles turned himself in to police early on Friday morning in Lafayette.

He was taken to the Calcasieu Correctional Center where he was lodged on suspicion of second-degree murder, severe criminal property damage, and unlawful weapon usage. His bond was set at $680,000 by Judge Ron Ware.

As the investigation proceeds, more arrests, according to Vincent, are anticipated.
