In 2007, Godwin joined CBS News as a producer for the network’s morning program.

Over the years, she held several positions at CBS News, including senior broadcast producer for the CBS Evening News, executive director for development and diversity, and executive vice president of News. Godwin’s work at CBS News was highly regarded, and she earned numerous accolades for her contributions to the network.
