Jorge Alvarado Obituary: Salinas Mourns Loss of Dedicated Police Officer

Salinas, California, is grieving the unexpected loss of one of its dedicated law enforcement officers, Jorge Ernesto Alvarado, who passed away at his home. On Monday, the Salinas Police Department made the somber announcement of Officer Alvarado’s passing.

Jorge Alvarado embarked on his career in law enforcement in 2005 as a member of the Soledad Police Department. In 2007, he transferred to the Salinas Police Department, where he continued to serve the community he was passionate about. During his tenure, Officer Alvarado made significant contributions as a member of the Gang Task Force and as a Field Training Officer.

Before dedicating his life to police work, Alvarado proudly served in the United States Army, demonstrating his commitment to protecting and serving his country and community.

The Salinas community also remembers Officer Alvarado as the older brother of Fallen Officer Jorge David “JD” Alvarado Jr., who tragically lost his life in the line of duty on February 25, 2022.

At the time of his passing, Jorge Alvarado was 45 years old. To honor his memory and pay their respects, a public rosary will be held at Struve and Laport on Friday, October 6, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. A mass in remembrance of Officer Alvarado will follow on the next day at Madonna Del Sasso Church at 10 a.m.
