Guinea knocked out of AFCON despite “Win The Cup or Return Our Money” warning by Military ruler

Guinea have been knocked out of the AFCON 2021 tournament.

Syli National of Guinea have been knocked out of the 2021 African Cup of Nations by debutant Gambia.

The national football team of Guinea have been defeated by Gambia in the Round 16 stage of the tournament.

Musa Barrow who plays for Bologna in the Italian Serie A scored the only goal of the game has Gambia beat Guinea 1-0.

 

 

 

This comes as a surprise as Gambia went into the game an underdogs considering the fact that AFCON 2021 is their first time in the biggest football competition in Africa.

The Guinea players will be left disappointed after assuring the country’s leader of winning the trophy following his warning.

The Military ruler of Guinea Col. Mamady Doumbouya warned the team that the only result expected of them is to win the trophy.

Bidding then farewell to the tournament Col. Mamady Doumbouya told them to win the trophy or return all money invested in them.

Now they couldn’t win the trophy and to add insult to injury they got knocked out by a team making their first appearance at the AFCON.
