GoFundMe; Heidi Keiser died from Toxic Shock Syndrome –
Recently news indicates Heidi Keiser passed away from shock.
According to the report, Heidi’s sister explain what caused the death of Keiser
Update on Heidi Fenton Keiser.
Her sister Betsy Fenton Archibald writes:
As I sat with Heidi today, I looked at her and marveled, “Who is this woman I am privileged to call my sister and friend, who seems to be known around the world?” She is still with us, but the end of her earthly pilgrimage is near. As I outlined in my last update, her skin has recently been our immediate concern and in the last two days, it has become clear that the damage of the toxins was complete, catastrophic, and irreversible. I am intentionally avoiding being explicit in my description, but in the words of a member of her ICU medical team yesterday, “I have never seen a case this bad.” In addition, as was inevitable without that line of defense, a new infection has set in.
We have been told she may have days, but not likely more. It is a mercy that to the best of our understanding, she is not in pain.
Kevin, along with some of his siblings, took the afternoon to be with his children, breaking the news that Mommy isn’t coming home. Mark followed suit, while I was with Heidi, so everyone in the house would be on the same page. Is there harder news to share? It is only because of the strength of the anchor of our faith that we know, even now, that God Is Still Good:
“For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at last he will stand upon the earth; and after my skin has been thus destroyed, then from my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see on my side, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me!” – Job 19:25-27
Amidst this unimaginable trial, we see God’s grace at work in so many ways – first and foremost the gift of family. Over the last 10 days Keisers, Archibalds, and Fentons have lived together, cried together, laughed together, prayed together, and strengthened bonds that will sustain us all moving forward. Remarkably, Heidi didn’t die within the first day at the hospital, giving us all this precious time.
Someday, a long time from now, but not so long as I might forget details, I will begin to write down all the other ways God has been present in this nightmare. The grace has been more. It is as He promises, “My grace is sufficient for you…” For your prayers:- For a peaceful death and the joy of heaven for Heidi- For consolation for Kevin, their children, and all of us- That God would continue to reveal Himself in the story of Heidi’s life. Who knew that this library-loving, homeschooling-genius, all-things-healthy, lives-in-the-middle-of-nowhere, beloved wife and mom-of-5 would be such a missionary in the last 10 days of her life? Pray, pray, pray!
What a ministry Betsy is performing for all of us.
