Ghana: Old lady’s house & 10,000 tubers of yam set ablaze by youth over witchcraft accusation

65-year-old woman has been humiliated in the Northern Region of Ghana over witchcraft accusation.

The youth of Nakpali in the Zabzugu district of the Northern Region attempted to lynch the old woman after labeling her a witch.

Her house was set ablaze and about 10,000 tubers of yam belonging to her were also burned to ashes.

This incident happened around 10am on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 but fortunately she was not in her round as she went hiding based on a tip-off.

Son of the old lady, Mr. Abdul-Rahim Tahidu said he has reported the case to the police whiles confirming the incident to Adom News reporter Abdul Rauf Dabre.

According to the son, few days a ago, her mother had a misunderstanding with two young guys and days after the quarrel, a branch of a baobab treee fell on one of the guys, leading to his death.

This mere coincidence made them believe the 65-year-old is a witch so they decided to lynch her.
