Ghana Medical Association tells Nana Addo to lockdown Ghana immediately to prevent spread of coronavirus (open letter)

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has called on the government to declare a nationwide lockdown with immediate effect following the number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the country.

Now into the third week since the first 2 cases of the Covid-19 was recorded in the country, it has surged up to 93 confirmed cases through which 4 people have lost their lives and patient has allegedly recovered.

Although the GMA is calling for an immediate lockdown, the association has, however, said the lockdown should exempt essential service providers.

It further added, “The lockdown though not a comfortable decision by leaders and citizens alike, is a proven option backed by science and along with the other measures will ultimately be in our best interest”.
