With the Help of His Grace, Erin Michael Ennis Quite a few years back, I was standing with a lacrosse coach following a heartbreaking defeat.
We were the only people remained in the parking lot after everyone else had left. When he got close to me, tears welled up in his eyes, and he sobbed, “I failed the kids today.” The game had ultimately been called for weather the night before and next day mentally and physically depleted.
The competition was not won by Arrowhead. Erin accepted responsibility for it despite the fact that it had nothing to do with coaching. In the years that followed, we had a great deal of disagreements, and as a result, our friendship deteriorated. Yet, God had other plans in mind. I took stock of my own failings as well as all the assistance Erin had provided me with at times when I was struggling.
