Egypt FA orders Captain Fathi to hand over captain’s armband to Mohamed Salah but he‘s refused
A drama is currently unfolding in Egyptian football with respect to the national team.
The drama has to do with the senior national team of Egypt, the Pharaohs and who captains the team henceforth.
El Mohammady the player who captained the team at the AFCON 2019 is out from the national team, making the captaincy role vacant.

When coach El-Badly took over the team following the dismissal of Hector Cuper, he named Ahmed Fathi as the captain of the team in his first official game where the Pharaohs defeated Botswana 1-0.
It’s been rumored that Egyptian FA and the coach has agreed to make Mohamed Salah the substantive captain. The decision has been communicated to Ahmed Fathi but he’s swear to hold on to the armband unless he’s not invited.
Ahmed Fathi is a senior player of the national team. He’s been playing for the Pharaohs since 2002 with 131 appearances.
