The captain of Ghana Blackstars Andre Ayew has sent a congratulatory message to the national U23 team for booking a ticket to U-23 AFCON.
The Black Meteors of Ghana defied all odds and defeated Algeria on their own grounds to qualify to the U23 African Cup.
The team was slapped with heavy criticism when they drew 1-1 in Accra in the first leg. They proved critics wrong and snatched a vital away win kind courtesy a Yaw Yeboah goal.
Andre Ayew wrote on Twitter; “Well done boys make us proud in Egypt 👊🏽 🇬🇭
This will be the first time Ghana will be participating in the U23 African Cup since the inception of the tournament in 2011.
The first three in the tournament will represent Africa at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, a tournament Ghana haven’t qualified since the group stage exit in Athens 2004 Olympics.
