BRAKING: Electoral Commission’s Office Under Attack (video)
There was a sudden invasion at the office of the Electoral Commission (EC) in Winneba in the Central Region on Friday dawn.
According to sources, the attackers took away with a television set, a laptop and some cash which had been kept in the office .
They opened a safe in the office but it did not contain any money, except election results from 2012 till date.
They were said to have intruded by jumping the wall and entered the premises, held the security personnel on duty hostage, seized his mobile phone and tied him up.
After ransacking the EC offices, they were said to have entered the premises of the nearby Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and made away with some valuable items.
The Effutu Municipal Electoral Officer, Ama Akotia, told Graphic Online that after tying up the security personnel marched him and kept asking him where they had kept the money but the security responded that he was not aware of any money and then locked him up in one of the rooms.
She said they forcibly opened the offices and ransacked it to make away with some valuable items.
