Bicyclist Jerry Parks hit by a car, killed in W. Wichita
The Wichita Police Department is still looking into the fatal collision between a car and a bicycle that happened on Thursday evening.
The bicyclist who was struck and killed by another vehicle was named by police as Jerry Parks, 55, of Goddard.

On Thursday at around 6:30 p.m., a car and a bicycle collided in the 6200 block of West Taft, according to the police. Parks was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, where he later passed away.
According to a WPD press release dated before the collision, Parks rode his bicycle onto West Taft Street from a shrubbery line heading south.
According to investigators, a 32-year-old lady operating a Ford Mustang was unable to stop in time and struck Parks and his bicycle. According to the police, “Neither speed nor intoxication are believed to have contributed to the accident.”

Police want anyone who saw the collision to contact WPD detectives at 316-350-3687 as the investigation proceeds.
