Asamoah Gyan has opened up on contesting Weija-Gbawe Seat on the ticket of NPP in 2024
Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan may contest as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the future barring any last-minute changes in his decision to join full-time politics.
Few weeks past, Asamoah Gyan donated several health products to the Weija Gbawe Constituency to help the fight against Coronavirus.
Asamoah Gyan in the company of his manager Samuel Anim Addo stormed the streets of Weija-Gbawe constituency in Accra and donated several items such as rubbing alcohol, sanitizers, soaps, tissue papers, bins and veronica bowls.
The items were received by Hon. Tina Mensah the Deputy Minister of Health and MP for Weija-Gbawe.
Also, Asamoah Gyan is currently sponsoring the construction of a rough road in an area in Accra.
The name of the specific area is yet to be known, however, Gyan has revealed in an Instagram live video on Sunday, May 17, that he’s paying for the full cost of constructing the road.
According to Asamoah Gyan, the rainy season has made the road unmotorable hence his decision to construct it with his own funds.
Even the former striker says he has empty decisions to do politics for now, he revealed anything can happen in the future.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Adom FM, he said: “I’m happy that people are grateful about what I have done. I said earlier that people want me to become their MP. The most important thing is that people are happy with what i have done”.
“Talking about politics anything can happen, but for now politics is not on my mind”. Gyan stated.
Explaining further, the all time leading scorer of the Black Stars with said “Sometimes the people choose you, people can choose you to lead them. When the roads were going on plus other projects, many people were urging me to lead them as their MP.”
He noted that though he has not planned to do politics for now but in this world anything can happen.
