Aqua Safari security guard dies after ‘accidentally’ getting shot by a police officer
A police officer is currently in the custody of the police after he turned himself in for ‘accidentally’ shooting a security guard at Aqua Safari.
A communique from the Ghana Police Service indicates that the officer, Lance Corporal Philip Addo of the Akropong Divisional Police Command was on a night duty at Aqua Safari.
He explained himself that at the main gate of the resort, he noticed the security guard, Stephen Adu asleep close by.
According to the police officer, in his attempt to wake him up, his AK 47 rifle accidentally discharged at the security guard.
The 30-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival when he was rushed to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital at Mampong-Akuapem.
His dead body had gunshot wounds on his neck and back left shoulder.
When the police visited the crime scene, they recovered three empty shells.
