Akufo-Addo tells IGP Asante-Apeatu to proceed on leave as he appoints James Oppong as acting IGP

The President of Ghana by the power vested in him by the constitution of the state has appointed a new Inspector General of Police.

Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asked David Asante-Apeatu to proceed on leave with immediate effect.

David Asante-Apeatu who is set to go on retirement on August 14 2019 was appointed by the President when as assume office in 2017.

The then Deputy Inspector of Police, Mr. James Oppong has been appointed by the President as acting IGP till further notice.

The President in his official press release thanked David Asante-Apeatu for his years of service to the nation Ghana.
