Akufo-Addo gifts Olympic medalist Samuel Takyi a car and $30,000

The President of Ghana has reward boxer Samuel Takyi for his heroics at the 2020 Olympic Games.

The 21-years-old boxer won bronze at the just ended Olympics, Ghana’s only medal at the sporting event.

It was Ghana’s first medal in 29 years, after the Black Meteors of Ghana won bronze at the Barcelona 1992 Olympics.

Welcoming the Ghanaian contingent back home, President Akufo announced $30,000 reward for Samuel Takyi, $10,000 of the money will be given to him now with the remaining $20,000 placed in an investment fund for him.

The young boxer will also get a personal car from the President of Ghana.

Additionally, each member of the Olympic contingent get a Presidential medal and $5000 each. In total, $150k is is going to the team.
