20 dies in Tanzania church stampede after pastor asked members to rush to him for holy oil
20 people have been confirmed dead following a church stampede in Tanzania.
The incident happened in a church service held in a stadium in the northern city of Moshi.
The stampede happened after the pastor of the church Boniface Mwamposa poured what he termed as ‘holy oil’ on the floor and asked members to rush to have a feel of it.
Believing in the prowess of the man of God, members rushed to touch the “holy oil” pastor Boniface Mwamposa poured on the floor.

Unfortunately there was no orderliness in their attempt to get a feel of the ‘holy oil’ causing a stampede which has left 20 people dead with others injured.
